Jock Duncan was one of Scotland’s great traditional singers. He inherited a rich repertoire of folk songs and bothy ballads from his family and other singers in the Buchan area of Aberdeenshire where his father farmed in New Deer.
Jock recorded his first album at the age of 70 – with a backing band of Brian McNeil (on bouzouki. Guitar, concertina and fiddle), Peter Shepheard (on melodeons) and Gordon Duncan (Jock’s son) on pipes and whistles.
